WHAT are our basic values and beliefs?
word of god based
Disciple Making Ministries seeks to follow the New Testament model, method, mission and movement that Jesus started and commissioned followers to accomplish. (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:2)
Holy Spirit
empowered
Disciple Making Ministries seeks to listen and to walk in step with the Holy Spirit who convicts, corrects, teaches, guides, encourages, and empowers for obedience unto spiritual maturity in the fullness of Christ. (Acts 1:8; John 14:26; Romans 15:13; Titus 3:5; Romans 15:16)
multiplication
motivated
Disciple Making Ministries seeks to motivate followers towards intentional methods of multiplication. We believe that Jesus was intentional and strategic about investing in a few who would be able to teach others also.
Relational,
relevant and
reproducible
Disciple Making Ministries seeks methods of ministry that are relational, relevant and reproducible. We believe that God has placed each believer into spheres of relationships to influence those nearby.
Modular with entry and exit points
Disciple Making Ministries understands that followers are at various levels of spiritual maturity. We value their freedom to enter and exit the highway of the disciple making process according to their free will. We believe the spiritual growth process is not necessarily time dependent. Instead, spiritual growth and maturity advances on the timeline of obedience to the commands of Christ.
inexpensive
and flexible
IN scheduling
Disciple Making Ministries seeks disciple making methods that are inexpensive to implement, flexible in schedule and easily reproducible. We avoid expensive buildings, formal education programs, having to fund professional staff, etc. Instead, we invest our lives into followers in natural ways.
engaging,
establishing,
equipping & empowering
disciple makers
Disciple Making Ministries seeks to intentionally engage, establish, equip and empower followers who are faithful, available, teachable, servant-leaders and obedient to the commands of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. We desire to focus our time, energy, resources on those who are able and willing to make more disciple makers. (2 Timothy 2:2)
DOCTRINE OF THE SCRIPTURES
We believe that all Scripture was inspired by God in that holy men were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the very words of Scripture. Divine inspiration extends to every area in the original language manuscript without error. We believe that the Old Testament points to Jesus Christ who is declared as the Word of God.
DOCTRINE OF THE Godhead
We believe in the all-powerful Creator and Sustainer God over everything visible and invisible who eternally exists in three persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit each having the same nature and attributes worthy of worship.
DOCTRINE OF Angels
We believe that God created a company of spiritual beings known as angels and that one named Lucifer through pride sinned followed by a great company of other angels. We believe that Satan is the originator of sin and that he deceived Eve into sinning against God as an attempt to usurp the inheritance of humanity. We believe that Jesus defeated Satan at the cross and that at Jesus’ second coming will bind Satan for a thousand years where he will be tormented. We believe in a literal place and realm named hell where Satan and his followers will be bound.
DOCTRINE OF humanity
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God both man and woman. We believe that God created the institutions of marriage and the family. We believe that because of Adam and Eve’s sin all humanity has fallen short of the glory of God with the exception of Jesus Christ who did not sin but who was sacrificed to redeem humanity back to God. However, upon trusting Jesus as Savior, humanity receives the Holy Spirit empowering the redeemed for righteousness.
DOCTRINE OF salvation
We believe that to enter the kingdom of God, sinful humanity must be born again by the Holy Spirit. This redemption is accomplished only by the grace of God through faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ through his atoning shed blood. We believe that Jesus died, was buried and resurrected on the third day as prophesied. We believe that followers of Jesus are called unto a lifestyle of obedience through discipleship. The grace of God motivates the believer towards loving action.
We believe that God sets apart believers for holiness and service but that sanctification is progressive as followers allow God to change their sinful nature by the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that followers will never be perfect but can strive towards maturity in Christ.
DOCTRINE OF Sanctification
We believe that all who are united with the risen Savior, Jesus Christ are members of his universal church, which is the body and bride of Christ. We believe that each member of the body has been given unique spiritual gifts to assist in building up the body of Christ. We believe that the local church is called to serve one another in unity and to witness to the world preaching the Word of God in and out of season in love.
DOCTRINE OF the church
We believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ that he will come in the clouds with power and glory and that he will rule and reign on earth together with his saints for a thousand years.
